Modern lives are busy and demanding, which means it is no surprise that our minds get caught up in autopilot and are often busy planning, worrying, and analysing. Mindfulness meditation helps us to find new ways to approach life’s challenges and to find peace in a frantic world. Mindfulness is a proven approach to reduce stress, low mood and anxiety, and to experience greater joy, appreciation and gratitude.

The eight-week course is suitable for complete beginners or people with an existing meditation practice. Each week you will meet as a small closed group (the same people every week), and the classes will build on each other from week to week. Across the course you will learn and practise:

  • How to move from living on autopilot to being more fully in the present moment

  • The importance and practice of the body and the breath in beginning to feel more present in your life

    • How to begin to approach difficulty with responsiveness and greater ease

    • Cultivating inner kindness and compassion

    • How to bring a nourishing balance to everyday life

The classes are trauma-sensitive and combine meditation alongside experiential mindfulness exercises for body and mind. In between the classes you will be invited to continue practising, using the guided meditations provided and building on what you have learned to find ways to bring mindfulness into your daily life. Embedding and deepening these practices in your everyday life will help you to continue benefiting long after the course ends. The evidence clearly shows that a commitment to practicing regular meditation will greatly increase what you may gain from the course. It is wise to allocate some time daily during the course to complete the home practice exercises.
