Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing (SE™) is an approach used for healing trauma and other stress disorders. It brings together physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics.

The SE approach releases traumatic shock, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma. It offers a framework to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight or freeze responses and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states. SE provides effective skills appropriate to a variety of healing professions including mental health, medicine, physical and occupational therapies, bodywork, addiction treatment, first response, education, and others.

CHECK OUT SOME BRIEF INTERVIEW VIDEOS WITH KATHARINE ABOUT SEP BELOW

Katharine began as an Intensive Care Nurse in oncology at the NHS, but life led her to a new path. She joined a sexual assault charity, honing her skills in Person-Centred Counselling to help young adults with severe PTSD, anxiety, and depression.

Katharine addresses a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, confidence issues, anger, eating behaviours, PTSD and the impacts of trauma. She believes that all presenting issues can be explored through the body and SE is a powerful medium to do this.
