Here’s why….
Having picnics in your local park, exploring rainforests on holiday, or sitting in your garden to read a book. These activities all have something in common: the experience of nature. Trees, flowers, and plants are essential to our experience of the beautiful natural world and benefit both our physical and mental health. In fact, research has shown the importance of walking daily on reducing stress levels to lift your mood as well as preventing the development of heart disease. The natural world also provides medicinal materials, food, water and nutrients and minerals essential for our health. It provides a habitat and shelter for life to thrive. So just as we are rooted in our bodies, we are rooted to the Earth. However, the increasing threat of deforestation, global warming and climate change impacts all life on Earth.
Therefore, The Bodart Practice is fundraising in aid of TreeSisters. We want to embed regeneration into our practice and we believe that nurturing our mental health is also about nurturing the environment in which we live. For every session or class purchased, we will fund the planting of one tree. Every little change we make in our environment can have a positive impact on the ecosystem all around us and ensure communities can survive and thrive everywhere.
Who are TreeSisters?
TreeSisters is an invitation to everyone to do as much radical good as they can for the planet. The global network of treesisters is transforming both lives and landscapes in extraordinary ways. TreeSisters offers unique global programs that focus on encouraging women's leadership, nature-connection, and significant behaviour change from being consumers to restorers. TreeSisters is funding the restoration of environments, biodiversity and communities within more than 10 major ecosystems around the global Tropics through a diverse portfolio of vetted, trusted reforestation projects and in the process, planting millions of trees. Join us in making ecological restoration the new norm!
Furthermore, TreeSisters aims to use the relationship between nature and the characteristics of women all over the world to continue to accelerate tropical reforestation. The inspiration and influence women can have in their communities can urge others to do their part for the environment. By providing resources, communities, and experiences, TreeSisters encourages a shift from consumer to restorative culture as a collective. Coming together as one Sisterhood, rather than individuals can have a bigger impact on the positive changes made to our world. Through individuals and businesses that give back to Nature every month, TreeSisters has so far funded the planting of over 15 million trees across 12 locations in Brazil, Borneo, Cameroon, India, Kenya, Mozambique, Madagascar, Nepal and West Papua.
What does it mean to be a TreeSister?
Reveal
We choose to believe that anything is possible - to keep an open mind and seek the truth
Embrace
We choose to create a sisterhood of safety and encouragement by looking for the best in every woman and girl, and being inclusive - we keep an open heart and choose to love
Embody
We choose to take care of our bodies and the body of Earth - we nurture Nature and listen to our deeper intuition - we choose to feel how things really are
Activate
We take care of the natural world by planting trees and we take care of our bodies by listening to our own needs - we choose to respond to what is needed to create health and harmony
Shine
We find ways to bring our gifts to the world so that we honour our life and soul - we choose courage and creativity - we choose to shine
These are the five crucial choices made as a TreeSister which can change the outlook on life and how we care for the environment around us. These choices resonate deeply within our practice as we help our clients to improve their way of living and their mental health. This link between the natural world and individual mental health is a key reason why we are aiming to restore our planet with the Tree Sisters.
Why have we chosen to partner with TreeSisters?
TreeSisters have two core objectives:
Increasing Green Cover
Through the funding of long-term, sustainable reforestation projects across the tropical belt. They are currently working with a number of Reforestation Partners across multiple tropical ecosystems.
Education & Women’s Leadership
They do this through building an inclusive global community of TreeSisters, offering every woman (and increasing numbers of men!) the inner and outer pathways to change.
These core objectives and values link to our holistic approach as a practice. There is a continuing increase for the importance of mindful living, community, and nature in aiding positive mental health. The five powerful choices encouraged by TreeSisters are essential practices within all forms of our therapy as well. Keeping an open mind both in and outside of sessions helps us to be courageous and curious. We prioritise listening to our mental and physical state and responding to what we find there and what we most need. We create safe and encouraging spaces to reconnect with ourselves as well as community around us. Through all of this, we believe you can live more fully in the present and build the life you want.
Thank you for joining our mission to restore our planet with TreeSisters
